On the Coffs Coast...

In Australian terms, the key to selecting the “Best” fish is fresh or frozen, wild caught from the ocean in season, or shellfish and roe in season from clean waters. Certain types of “wild seafood” are readily available from the Fishermans Co –op and It’s Wild Seafood (details below).

Amazingly we have been able to confirm that as high as 94% of Atlantic Salmon sold in local shops is actually “farmed” and is not caught in the open seas. Although not local, 100% wild fresh frozen Canadian Sockeye Salmon, frozen smoked salmon and caviar, are available in Australia by order from The Canadian Way.

Cold Smoked wild caught, yellowfin tuna from oceanic waters of northern NSW and southern Queensland, a delicacy crafted by Quigleys of Bellingen is available from most IGA’s and Bellingen Community Markets.
